because there is never a dull day in this house - here's the latest and i'm having flashbacks to last fall:
paul has been having routine follow up scans to watch the lesion on his brain and the tumor on his spine (that they found when he extruded his disc last August) - making sure they do not change or grow. he had scans on 12/30, all good, then again on 6/11. he got his official scan results from 6/11 on tuesday - contrary to what the nurse told me several weeks ago, the tumor on paul's spine did indeed grow since his last scan. staying in a "watch and see" mode - will re-scan in 9 months. i have no clue why we are not scanning in 6 mos - but it was supposed to be 12 and the neurosurgeon ordered it for 9 b/c of the new growth. he still says the chances of it being malignant are low - but you don't know unless you biopsy or remove it and b/c of its location, the risks do not outweigh the benefits at this point.
mckenzie - apparently they always have to tag team on this stuff - i took her in on tuesday to check after 3 mos of complaining consistently of leg pain in her right leg, then the last six weeks she added the right side of her neck and right armpit. - complaints have been very consistent and all on the right side, which was the concerning part for me. dr. checked neck & armpit and wasn't worried about that (don't know why) but sent us over for xrays and blood work, testing for leukemia and/or lymphoma. blood work came back clear yesterday - great b/c leukemia would have been a good physical exam but wacky blood work, so this was a big relief - xrays last night indicate a "right knee effusion" which could be a tumor, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, or hopefully just a radiologist that maybe doesn't look at a lot of 3 yr old knees....those were the three thoughts he threw out to me. he has referred us to a pediatric orthopedic specialist at rady's, we are seeing her next wednesday morning.
i thought we closed this chapter when we rung in 2010???? sigh...
