Not much exciting to report...this past weekend was a mellow weekend - following Paul's first week in the downtown office, his back needed some rest, and a few things we needed to get done around the house, but so little on the docket that the girls actually had a jammie day on Sunday. Couldn't tell you the last time..!
Saturday we did go for a walk at the beach, a little exercise for everyone and Paul's daily 1-2 mile walk, doctors orders, which is IMPOSSIBLE to do now that he is back to work. On the way back, we decided to make a little impromptu stop at Tri-City and take a walk thru the hospital in an attempt to help McKenzie deal with her unofficially diagnosed PTSD from her surgery and hospital stay. She is terrified of so much right now - and wakes up during the night screaming hysterically because there is something in her room - we've had a frog (the next morning she told me he said "ribbit" to her), a cat, mosquito and "feet" - "there are feet in my room mommy!!!". She has also had a few incidences of this at school - she was convinced she saw a snake in the aquarium in her class and a spider in the bathroom - both of which were totally her imagination, but at least with the mosquito she was seeing in her room at night, even in the light she was showing me where it was - and there was nothing there!!
Anyway, our surgeon's nurse has told me this is very typical for her age, given her experience and the complications she had post-surgery just added salt to the wound. So, we are trying a few passive visits to medical settings to help soften the fear...
And below is a picture of her beautifully healing incision, four weeks and two days post-surgery. Damn, has it really only been four weeks?????
Oh the fun!!
